New Year´s Resolutions

If you are like most of the new clients coming into my health and wellness facility right now, you have a New Year´s resolution to lose weight and get healthier. Chances are this isn´t your first time having this resolution (or trying to lose weight for that matter), which means something went wrong with your previous intentions. Well, there´s a good reason why your previous resolutions or attempts didn´t stick. And it´s not about your will power or motivation. It´s about information and survival.

Physical and Mental Tips.

In my health and wellness facility we pride ourselves on taking a multifaceted approach to helping people achieve healthy and lean bodies. Beyond the mental side of things we do focus on two other aspects that help people create a well-rounded approach to changing their health and body–the physical (resistance training, cardiovascular training, and a muscular balancing technique known as Muscle Activation Technique) and the chemical (addressing the micronutrient needs, like vitamins and minerals).

Your Belief About Getting the Body You Want.

In previous articles I have covered things to help you make peace with where you are so you are not working against yourself by releasing negative chemicals and negative programming that cause your body to want to hold on to fat and be unhealthy.

Four simple questions.

Not long ago I was watching a PBS program where a man was talking about changing the health of our brain and he presented four questions that are designed to challenge a limiting belief. I did not catch his name and I cannot find the original source for who first presented these questions but thought they were worth repeating anyway as great way to challenge limiting beliefs you might have about getting to your goal and making change.

My Calorie Experiments

About a month ago I was doing a presentation, and I brought up the idea that every time we are stressed we activate the “fight or flight" response, which is done through something called the HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis), and that causes a release of cortisol

Your Body as Feedback.

One thing that has become very apparent to me is that the way our body currently looks and feels is purely feedback about the input it is getting. Some of it relates to how we eat and how we move (exercise and activities), but more of it has to do with how we think.

A Better Understanding of Our Brain and Success

In previous articles I have talked about the chemical reactions of stress and how they affect your body and your healthnegative thoughts create negative chemical reactions in the body, which can negate or nullify the results you were hoping for from an exercise and diet plan.

Finding Evidence of Your Desire.

In the last newsletter I talked about discovering what you want and getting to the real underlying reason why you want it.

What are your goals?

When almost everyone comes to my facility, whether it is for personal training, Muscle Activation Techniques, or coaching, I ask them what they hope to take away from the experience – what goals they hope to achieve from our time together.

Why do you want what you want?

Once I help someone understand what they truly want – meaning, they understand what they want, not what they don´t want – I ask them why they want it. Almost every single time the answer is something superficial.

The Chemical Reactions of Stress

Most people don´t realize that when they feel negative emotion, which is caused by their limited point of focus or negative attention to a subject, they are putting their body in a negative chemical environment.

How to Make Peace with Where You Are

I think most people I interact with and coach are starting to get the importance of making peace with where they are before they try to make change – before they take action.

Tuning Into Your Indicators

The thing that seems to be the one constant with anyone I coach (or anyone I talk to for that matter) in regard to changing their body seems to be a lack of sensitivity when it comes to their emotional indicators.

The Emotional Ladder

I have included an emotional ladder at the end of this article for you to use as a guide to help you with understanding where you are in regard to your emotions.
